Intuition is having an exciting refit over the summer. Please bear with us as links change or go missing in this time.
Luckily for us April has been an interesting month filled with important things to discuss; volcanoes releasing clouds of ash, political debates...Channing Tatum's body in Dear John. Luckily for you we will be discussing all these, especially our detailed coverage of the 2010 election in our Features section. Our most exciting feature this month however, is that Michael, Cameron and Pete will be covering the results of the election live as they come in. Yes, lucky you indeed.
This is the last issue of the year due to the University term coming to a close after a manic final sprint of essays, dissertations and exams. As my last month as Editor-In-Chief of Intuition, I'd like to thank you readers for remaining loyal to us and to wish you all well for the future.
It has become something of a tradition for departing editors, often leaving the Erudition News Group for pastures new, to write their final article as a kind of swansong, reviewing their time with us.
For me, now, alas, the time has come, to speak of many things. Not of ships and shoes, but of times past and, perhaps, of the future. You will have to forgive me if I appear longer-winded than many of my predecessors in this swansong – the reasons for this, I hope, will soon become apparent.
Erudition and Reading Online News, prior to their closure in November last year, (currently undergoing refurbishment), ran for a 19 editions over two and a half years, and you are reading this in Intuition’s 9th edition since its launch in September 2009. I am proud to have been able to serve as Managing Editor for all 28 editions, over the course of the last three years. In that time I have worked with six Editors in Chief, from Verity Burke’s brief tenure in 2007 to Natasha Gross’s record breaking stay of nine editions.
In that time I cannot claim to have seen eye to eye with all of those editors, or with all of my other colleagues, all of the time – the disparity in interests, disciplines and beliefs among such a team will inevitably see to that, but for the most part (with some notable exceptions) it has been a privilege to work with each of them.
Together, what have we achieved? Two publications, four different iterations of our website, four marketing campaigns, three recruitment campaigns, readers in their thousands on four continents, and hundreds of articles on everything form the future of Milan Fashion Week to our detailed live coverage of the 2008 US election – my monthly spreadsheet...
